Additional Property Attributes

Phase II ESA was completed to assess hazardous substances on the property. Chemicals of concern detected appeared to be associated with former petroleum tanks on the site. Petroleum impact is regulated under the IDNR Underground Storage Tank Program. Results of the Phase II ESA were provided to the site owner and the IDNR. Efforts were made to work with the site owner, however, cooperation was limited. The site is monitored annually as part of the IDNR UST Program.

Former Use: City Directories list the subject site being utilized by a gasoline and service station from 1960 to present. Aerial photographs show the subject site being commercially developed since circa 1957. The property to the east appears to be occupied by a salvage operation, while the surrounding properties to the north and west appear to be commercially developed. The Chicago Pacific Railroad occupies the property to the south. Historic Railroad maps show the eastern edge of the Roundhouse and a railcar shop occupies the subject site.
