A Phase II ESA was completed for the subject property located at 787 South Pere Marquette Highway, in Pere Marquette Township, Mason County, Michigan, to evaluate RECs identified in the Phase I ESA and per the associated SAP completed by Otwell Mawby in January and April 2008, respectively. The Phase II ESA consisted of a geophysical survey, test pit activities, and soil and groundwater sampling and analyses. The Phase II ESA results document impact to soil and groundwater at the subject property from the historical presence of USTs and the use of the subject property as gasoline filling station and automobile repair business. Based on the analytical results, the subject property meets the definition of a �Facility�, as defined by Part 201 of Act 451 as amended. A subsequent BEA was completed and will be submitted to the MDEQ prior to the aquistion and closing.

Former Use: Based on information obtained during the completion of this Phase I ESA, the subject property appears to have been developed since at least 1940s as an automobile service and gasoline filling station. These operations took place on the subject property until the mid 1960s, after which time the subject property was utilized for various business associated with automobiles until the mid 1970s. The subject property was then purchased by the Township and remodeled for the Township Fire Department. When the Fire Department was relocated in the mid 1980s the subject property was utilized for the Township DPW operations and office. The subject property has been used for the DPW office since.
