Additional Property Attributes

The phase I for this property was done under the petroleum assessment grant. This additional work was an asbestos survey of the existing building. The survey detected the presence of a number of probable asbestos materials that will have to be removed prior to rennovation of the building. The City acquired the Goodwill building after this assessment and plans to reuse it for a civic purpose. Assessment findings did not note anything visual of significance, however, recommended a phase II because of the location and past activities around the site. The City acquired this property after the Phase I was completed. A visual asbestos survey was also completed using funds from the hazardous assessment grant, 96679801. More information about this site may be found in the ACRES entry for that grant. Currently, specific plans for the site are unknown, however, the City plans to use it for a civic purpose. As such, the need for future assessment work is not clear at this time (6/15/09).

Former Use: The property is approximately 2.376 acres in the NE q/4 of Sect 4, T11N, R3W in Oklahoma City. It consists of 27 lots currently developed with two commercial buildings and a parking lot. The buildings are being used as a warehoust/coprate headquarters and a store. The surrounding area is urban property with historical residential, commercial and industrial uses. The property has been utilized by Goodwill since at least 1995. Records show Goodwill as a CESQG with D001 hazardous wastes. There are several industrial properties in the immediate vicinity (within 1/8 mile) that have been in business since the 50?s & 60?s including Blumenthal Transmission, an auto repair facility; and several facilities related to vehicle processing that had underground tanks, including Downtown 66, Bob Howard Ford, and the COPTA bus station. The City of OKC acquired this property following this assessment and plans to use it as a Civic building and/or property in the Core To Shore redevelopment efforts.
