Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Las Ruinas Area consists of approximately 4.83 acres of land improved with six buildings and/or strutures. The site was part of the former Ramey Air Force Base AFB, which was an important Strategic Air Command installation during World War II. The Ramey Base ceased operation in 1972 and was deactiviated in 1973. The site was subsequently deeded to the Municipality of Aguadilla. In 1990, the Municipality of Aguadilla used the buildings at Las Ruinas as an emergency shelter for runaway children. THe center was operated until 1992. The site was vacant from 1992 to 1996. In 1995, the municipality granted program funds to the non-profit organization Posada de Amor, Inc. to establish an emergency shelter for battered children, which operated the facility from 1996 to 1997. The site has been vacant since 1997. The buildings ave deteriorated beyond functional use.
