Former Use: Currently vacant property that has been used for illegal dumping and likely been affected by emissions from a former nearby smelter. The Site consists of two parcels, 1960 Hillside Avenue and 1964 Hillside Avenue in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. The Site is approximately 0.2 acre in area, vacant, and most of it is covered with gravel. The Site is bordered to the north by a residential property, to the west by an alley with residential properties beyond, and to the east-southeast by Hillside Avenue, residences, and a vacant property beyond it. Based on available records, the Site appears to have been vacant from at least 1915 until the 1950s, and was subsequently used by a diesel truck repair facility until the early 2000s 2002 or earlier. The Site is a registered UST site, and no records indicating that the USTs were removed from the Site were found. Phase II investigation was conducted to collect samples from soil and groundwater at the site. CARE grantees are able to utilize TBA services.
