Additional Property Attributes

The building was constructed in 1874 as a prison, It is one of the oldest buildings in the Cherokee Nation. The property was developed as the Cherokee National Prison Museum in May 2012.

Former Use: The Territorial Prison is located on the corner of East Choctaw Avenue and South Water Street at 124 East Choctaw Avenue. Additional information obtained from the County Clerk for Cherokee County states this site consists of one single tract of land lying in Lot One 1, Block Ninety-five 95, of Section Thirty-three 33, T17N, R22E, in the City of Tahlequah, Cherokee County, in the State of Oklahoma
