Additional Property Attributes

The site is situated west of downtown Chillicothe. The subject property is bordered to the north, east and west by residential areas and to the south there is a railroad track and the Chillicothe Municipal Utilities Water and Light Plant. The identified other contaminant listed under recognized contaminants is the presence of herbicides found in building 14. During the Phase II it was found that the soil tested contained VOCs, SVOCs, TPH-GRO, TPH-ORO, and RCRA metals. The contaminants that exceeded MRBC LDTLs were VOCs, PCP (SVOC), TPH-GRO, arsenic and lead. No groundwater samples were taken due to no encounters with groundwater in select locations. None of the detected concentrations of arsenic or lead exceeded their background concentrations established by the USGS; therefore, the arsenic and lead are likely naturally occurring.

Former Use: The CCC began operations at the subject property in 1981 and has operated primarily out of the same structures of the formerly Missouri State Industrial Home for Girls.
