Additional Property Attributes

The subject property is currently a decommissioned state penitentiary and associated buildings located southwest of the Missouri River. The prison, which closed in 2004 after 168 years of continuous operation, is slated for redevelopment. Based on sampling conducted during this Phase II TBA, soil and groundwater appear to have been affected by historical activities associated with industrial activities located on the site. Specifically, contaminated soil and groundwater were identified in the eastern industrial area. The contaminants found at the site were VOCs, TPHs, PAH, RCRA metals, and one sample at the Play Field Fill Area contained PCBs. Only PCE (VOC), TPH-GRO, PAHs, arsenic, lead and silver were found at levels exceeding MRBCA LDTL standards.

Former Use: The site has been used as a state penitentiary since 1832 until it was decommissioned in 2004. Numerous factories were once in operation on the site.
