Property Highlights

The site is a former prison being considered for renovation as a sustainable agricultural learning center which may include limited housing/office space and commercial/retail. Petroleum impacted soils and groundwater were identified from an on-site source. LBP and ACM were identified in buildings on-site. PCE-contaminated groundwater was identified, likely from an off-site source. Metals-contaminated soil and groundwater were identified.

Former Use: The property was first developed by the State of North Carolina Department of Public Safety as a prison, serving in this capacity from the 1930's unto 2001, and has been uninhabited ever since.
