Additional Property Attributes

ADEM conducted a Phase II ESA to assess potential environmental impacts related to past USTs and a truck maintenance area on site. Petroleum-related compounds detected in soil samples were below regulatory and risk-based levels. 1,1-DCE, TCE, chromium, arsenic and lead were detected above EPA MCLs in underlying groundwater.

Former Use: The northern portion of the site was previously the Pilgrim's Pride poultry processing plant and the southern portion was previously Sweet Sue Kitchens consumer food cannery plant. The site is bordered on the wast by an agricultural field that is adjacent to the construction site of the new Athens High School. The City of Athens would like to use the property for recreational fields for the High School.
