Additional Property Attributes

The site includes an approximately .351 acre tract of land. The Town of Louisburg anticipates redeveloping the property as an entrance into the South Main Street corridor or possibly as a small park. It is anticipated that a portion, or most of the property, will become greenspace.

Former Use: The site is located at 1040 Souht Main Street in Louisburg, Franklin County, NC and was the location of a facility that once operated as an ice factory (1940's - 1950's), as an appliance, propane and gas sales facility (1950's to the 1990's), and as a terra cotta pipe sales company from the 1990's to the 2000's. The site utilized two USTs that contained gasoline. The USTs were closed in place in 1997. Previous investigations identified free-product in at least two monitoring wells at the site, and free-product was detected in one monitoring well during the Phase II ESA. The property is owned by the Town of Louisburg. Residential and commercial properties surround the site. VOCs, PAHs, TPH , lead and arsenic are of concern due to the possible presence of the USTs which were previously closed in place.
