Additional Property Attributes

The property is developed on 11-acres with 17 structures in various condition. Structures total approximately 15,000 are are not currently in use.

Former Use: Property was developed in the early 1920s as the farm operations headquarters for the old Kilby prison which was constructed in 1923 and shut down in the early 1070s. Some of the buildings were used by by state between 1940 and 1960. The Public Health Department, and later Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) were the primary users of the property between 1970 and 2000, when the property was vacated. Gunter Maxwell Air Force Base is located to the immediate east and south of the site.
