Additional Property Attributes

The site was approved for Phase I ESA funding on 4/21/09. This site was included in the Phase II ESA for the CPA Commercial Site as the parcel is the subset of the larger Commercial Site. The drums of petroleum that were found at the site prior to the Phase I and Phase II ESA were removed for proper disposal as indicated by CPA.

Former Use: The site address is Continental Drive, Airport/Dandan, MP 96950 and is owned by CPA. The site is currently an uncontrolled surface dumping ground for municipal waste, tires, construction debris, bottles, and cars. Based on a review of historical aerial photographs circa 1945-46, the site is located in the former location of Isley Airfield and the area at that time appears to have been an aircraft parking area. No other documents were available for review. DEQ previously identified the site as having buried drums of petroleum product in 2000. The drums are believed to belong to the US milatary when the site was being used as an airport. At the time of the site reconnaissance in 2005, the drums could not be located.Possible UXO casings were observed at the time of the site reconnaissance as well. The site was approved for Phase I ESA funding on 4/21/09.
