Additional Property Attributes

The Piscataqua Transportation property is located adjacent to the Town offices. After the Phase I ESA, the Town of Greenland, NH decided to purchase the property and has plans to redevelop the property into a public institution as either a library or public safety building. The Town has began preparing the site for redevelopment by demolishing a two-story residence/office building and is awaiting Phase II results before further activities are performed.

Former Use: The property is currently improved with an approximately 1,400 square foot former residence converted to an office and a 2,400 square foot truck repair garage. The property was used by Piscataqua Transportation up until April 2009, when they went out of business. The areas not occupied by structures consist of gravel drive and storage areas and grassy areas. A drainage swale runs along the east, south, and west borders of the property. The property is located in a more rural area of Greenland. Information obtained from historic USGS maps, aerial photographs, interviews with the property contact, and Town records indicate that the property has been developed since approximately 1940 with actual structures however, information obtained from property deeds indicate that before 1922 the land was part of a larger farm. It began truck repair in about 1985 and was used exclusively for truck repair from 1995 to April 2009. The property has been vacant since April 2009.
