Additional Property Attributes

The site contained a former grain elevator, of wooden construction w/asbestos materials. The building was structurally unsound and partially demolished. The City of Masonville sought to obtain the property in order to abate the hazard caused by the unsound building and asbestos materials within the structure. The City conducted a due diligence process, obtained title, and these 128(a) funds assisted with the proper disposal of asbestos containing demolition materials that were on the site.

Former Use: Paris & Sons Grain Company owned and developed the site for grain and fertilizer storage and handling. The company went bankrupt and site ownership transferred to a tax certificate holder, who also did not pay taxes. The City of Masonville obtained the site in 2008 by paying the back taxes and receiving title.
