Additional Property Attributes

The site is located in a commercial/residential area and was historically used as an automobile service station and maintenance station for over 50 years. Ten USTs were located at the site, one which was located inside the service station building. The USTs contained gasoline, diesel, and kerosene fuels. All ten USTs were removed between 1997 and 2002. During 2008 and 2009, Phase I and Phase II assessment activities were completed under the City of Barbertons 2007 Community-Wide Hazardous and Petroleum Assessment Grant BF00E33501. Assessment activities included the installation and sampling of 16 soil borings and 6 groundwater monitoring wells. A total of 41 soil and 9 groundwater samples were analyzed during site assessment activities performed in 2008. The proposed cleanup plan is designed to eliminate potential human health risks related to the presence of VOCs, PAHs and TPH compounds present in site soils. An U.S. EPA Brownfield Petroleum Cleanup grant was awarded under the 2009 Recovery Act in May 2009. Cleanup activities commenced in November 2010 and final grade was completed in December 2010. An Interim Remedial Action report was submitted to BUSTR on January 5, 2011. A follow-up Environmental Covenant was sent to BUSTR on May 20, 2011. The Environmental Covenant was filed with the Summit County Recorder's Office on July 20, 2011 and the NFA was received from BUSTR on August 1, 2011.
