Additional Property Attributes

The property consists of a former multi-story brick building that was used as a school and has been abandoned for some time. The non-profit North School Preservation Society NSPS has recently been voted to take over ownership of the property. Prior to transfer of title, a Phase I ESA was commissioned. The current owners Springfield School District is responsible for removal of 40 5-gallon pails of roofing adhesive and potentially the removal and/or closure of the 25-year old UST.

Former Use: The total property consists of two buildings, the multi-story brick former school building and a small single-story "warming hut" in addition to 5 acres of recreational fields above the building locations. The property is corrently owned by the Springfield School District but will soon be conveyed to the North School Preservation Society for potential use as a community building, including summer programs, theatre, arts, recreation, and other public uses.
