Additional Property Attributes

Rent-A-Wreck, Computers 4 Kids C4K and Cruise America of Billings occupy this 0.4-acre commercial property located in the southwest corner of the East Billings Urban Renewal District EBURD. Current land use in the area is characterized as commercial/light industrial businesses trucking, vehicle repair, recycling centers, machine shops, auto salvage. Access to the property is provided from 1st Ave North.

Former Use: In 1912, the northern portion of the subject property was vacant and the southeast portion contained a coal pile adjacent to the railroad tracks along the eastern boundary. By 1923, the property was operated by Crystal Ice and Fuel Company, with expanded coal storage. In the early 1940s to late 1960s, the property housed O'Loughlin Service Station. In the 1980s it housed the Mountain States Petroleum Corporation. Polk's city directories indicate that Rent-A-Wreck, Chucks Towing, Hitch-N-Haul and Schilling Repair occupied the building in 2010. In 2005 it was listed as Rent-a-Wreck, Luverne Northland Automotive and Handy Downs antiques. In 1999 it was listed as Luverne Truck Equipment and Northland Automotive. In 1995 and 1990 it was listed as Northland Automotive and Northland Distributing. Luverne Truck Equipment and Auto Mart Rental Cars. In 1985 it was listed as Bairs Mountain States Petroleum Corporation and in 1980 as De Jarnett Saddlery - Horse Trailers and Flying L Trailers. In 1964 it was listed as O'Loughlin Oil Company.
