Additional Property Attributes

The BTA was conducted for Hays Communication Service with County support to encourage development of a property formerly utilized as a gas station. Based on the BTA application, Hays Communication has proposed an expansion. Potential petroleum and hazardous substances associated with the oil/water separator, former hydraulic lift, former USTs, former pump island, and adjacent north grain elevator were identified as Recognized Environmental Conditions RECs. Phase II revealed petroleum products on site and the site has been referred to the KDHE Underground Storage Tanks Program for furhter assessment and/or cleanup.

Former Use: Residential structure in 1918. In 1930's, it became a filling station until 1977, at which time it was converted into an office/shop for a two-way radio company.
