This property is one square block and is bordered by S Murray Avenue to the east, Johnson Street to the south, S Tower Street to the west, and W Franklin Street to the north. The City of Anderson owns 10 of the 11 parcels that make up the block. Parcels owned by the city are 124-22-04-002, 124-22-04-003, 124-22-04-004, 124-22-04-005, 124-22-04-007, 124-22-04-008, 124-22-04-009, 124-22-04-010, 124-22-04-011, and 124-22-04-012. The city does not own parcel 124-22-04-001 as of 8-25-11. There are no structures on the property. A Phase I and a limited Phase II environmental site assessment were performed. Groundwater was present at approximately 40 feet below grade. Benzene, toluene, chloroform & acetone were detected in GW at concentrations below MCLs. There is no MCL for acetone. Pesticides were found in temporary MW-1 at concentrations above the RSL for tap water. Results may be due to turbidity of the sample. Metals were found in several TMWs at concentrations above MCL and RSL. Results may be due to turbidity of the samples. Pesticides dieldrin and heptachlor epoxide were found in three surface soil samples above the Risk Based SSL but below the Residential Screening Level.

Former Use: Historical information indicated that the property was used for residential purposes from prior to 1918 until the City of Anderson purchased the tracts that comprise the site and demolished the buildings on the site in the late 2000s.
