Additional Property Attributes

This property is the land located at the intersection of Routes 1 and 101. According to NHDOT, this was the site of a historical landfill. In addition, a small cemetery with headstones dating from the early 1700s to mid-1800s is present on the Site.

Former Use: The Site is composed of one 1 State-owned approximately 35-acre parcel of land located within the public right-of-way at the intersection of US Route 1 and NH Route 101 in Hampton, New Hampshire. The Site is predominantly wooded with multiple gravel roads and paths located on the west side and is situated approximately 250 feet north of a tidal marsh. Multiple overhead electrical lines cross the Site from east to west within a utility easement and a former railroad line crosses the Site from north to south on the west side. According to historical documentation and interviews, the Site was obtained by the State of New Hampshire in the early 1960s and the current roadway configuration was constructed prior to the 1970s. A portion of the western area of the Site was reportedly used as a solid waste landfill prior to being obtained by the State of New Hampshire. Surrounding properties are primarily undeveloped, commercial, and residential in nature.
