Additional Property Attributes

The property was built in 1920 as a supply garage for an oil and gas company. It then became a car dealership for many years. For decades, it was the Urlings General Store. Then, it became a Dollar General. More recently, the building was occupied by Catholic Charities as a food bank pantry and clothing donation site. In 2010, the Housing Authority of Wayne County purchased the building with the intent of converting the top story into affordable housing rental units and the ground level into office space for itself as well as for its local community development nonprofit organization, The Coalfield Development Corporation. The ground floor will also have space for community building activities and job training courses.
