Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The subject property is comprised of a total of 1333.85 acres spread throughout Sections 13, 24, 25, and 26 in Kay County, Oklahoma. This property has a total of 3 buildings, fenced areas, cross fences, 5 cisterns, 4 water wells, 4 oil well pump jacks, 2 full oil well tank systems and 1 stand alone tank. It also includes 6 ponds, 3 with water and 3 without. Chilocco Creek which runs east to west throughout the property. The subject property is primarily agricultural land with crops of corn, milo, and beans growing in fields, but there are also many acres of farming land used to raise cattle and for hay fields. Within the Treaty of New Echota it is stated that the Cherokee Nation will relinquish it's land east of the Mississippi River in exchange for land in Oklahoma. From that time of the Allotted land to 1866, the Cherokee Nation owned the land in the area known as Chilocco East. In 1866 another Treaty was signed to grant some land back to the Federal Government for what was then and now called Chilocco Indian School and the area surrounding it. The Federal Government owned the land from 1866 to 1968, when in 1968 Cherokee Nation bought the land back from the Federal Government and has owned it since that time until present.
