Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The property consists of one tax parcel (115.51-1-31) located at 51 Washington Street, Auburn NY. The property is approximately 7.5 acres in size and is divided into three sections. The largest section is on the north side of the Owasco River, a smaller portion on the south side of the Owasco River and a narrow strip on the eastern side of Washington Street, along a previous hydraulic head race (canal). The site is located in a residential neighborhood and is vacant land. Historical research indicates that the property has been developed for industrial purposes since 1885. Dunn and McCarthy shoe factory manufactured shoes on the site from 1895 to 1985. The City of Auburn acquired the property through tax foreclosure.
