Additional Property Attributes

The US EPA Region 9, assigned Bristol Environmental Remediation Services, LLC (Bristol) as Work Assignment No. LS-0020 under Contract No. EP-W-07-104 to conduct a site assessment and/or corrective action to evaluate the presence of petroleum hydrocarbon releases into the soil and groundwater. They removed one severely corroded and very thin UST, associated piping and the dispenser island. After removal the metals barium, chromium, lead, and mercury were detected, but at concentrations that were below action levels. A second anomaly located within the footprint of the former Brizards Store was left in place due to proximity of cultural use. Only the site of the gasoline LUST and dispensing island was removed and area cleaned. Reuse has been to secure and improve roadway curve, broadening State Hwy 169 at this point.

Former Use: The historic location of the store is only the edge of the parcel near HWY 169. There were several small private residences associated with the store clustered by the highway. The remainder is steeply sloping toward the Klamath River and undeveloped but used by the Tribe for cultural activities.
