The site is enclosed with a series of concrete walls and wrought iron gates. Historically, the site was utilized as a school until approximately 2.5 years ago when it was shut down for complaints of suspected mold and asbestos. Prior to being converted to a school, the US Navy utilized the site as a hospital during 1930s and 1940s. The area around the site building was minimally vegetated with grass.
