Additional Property Attributes

The City of Menlo seeks to acquire this vacant site from the local school district and redevelop the site for community greenspace or possible residential development. A former school building was torn down previously, but concerns about any environmental data that was, or wasn't collected, by the school at that time have deterred the City from proceeding with site acquisition. The IDNR's 128(a) program assisted with a Phase I environmental audit of the site in Sep/Oct 2012. It was noted that a former UST at the school was removed, soil sampling done, and no issues required regulatory follow up. As such, no further environmental assessment is planned prior to the school acquiring the property.

Former Use: The site was initially developed as a public school building (3-story brick) circa 1920. The building was torn down about 5 years ago by the school and the property has been vacant since.
