The Pueblo of Zuni Waste Transfer Station is adjacent to and east of the landfill. Between the Utility Services building and HLF #5, is an illegal dump site designated as HLF #7. HLF #7 contains approximately 200 cubic yards of construction debris, including metal, roofing material, cast iron pipes with lead solder, concrete blocks, carpet, floor tile, tires, and other materials. Other adjacent land is vacant and undeveloped.

Former Use: The property is a historical landfill site, operated as a municipal waste landfill from 1978 to the early 1980s. Historical information indicates that the municipal landfills in Zuni Pueblo accepted all manner of household, local industrial and medical waste with little site control. These include but are not limited to the following: o Animal Wastes; o Antifreeze; o Construction debris; o Electrical appliances; o Hospital waste; o Machinery and parts; o Paints and household chemicals; o Petroleum products; o Unused commodity food products from food programs; and o Occasional illegal septic system waste dumping. Adjacent to the northwest of HLF #5 is an illegal dump site designated as HLF #7. HLF #7 contains approximately 200 cubic yards of construction debris, including metal, roofing material, cast iron pipes with lead solder, concrete blocks, carpet, floor tile, tires, and other materials. HLF #7 reportedly received primarily construction and demolition debris from housing projects at POZ from the late 1960s to the early 1970s.
