Former Use: Former leather manufacturer 1940s-1960s and former Lewis Chemical Corporation 1960s-1983. Lewis Chemical processed, recycled, and transported oil and hazardous materials. The facility was closed by DEP in 1983. The City of Boston foreclosed on the property on October 18, 2000. Phase II concluded that there are no current conditions at the site that could result in risk to human health, but certain precautions must be taken under consideration during redevelopment planning and execution. Prior the 2013 Phase II Targeted Brownfields Assessment, the on-site building was abated and demolished. The slab was left in-place as a protective cap.
