Additional Property Attributes

The historical use of the property as a storage and salvage yard and as a used automobile part sales facilities from the early 1980s until the mid 2000s could have been a reason why waste automobile fluid is been generated and disposed in the subject property. The location of the subject property, and in conjuction with the northeast adjacent gasoline stations and also the existence of former USTs, LUST and NPL site within a short distance could be a potential source for soil and groundwater contamination within the property.

Former Use: The subject property occupies 0.46 acres of land located on the northwest side of West Virginia Ave., N.E. approximately 220 feet southwest of its intersection with New York Ave., N.E., in the Woodridge neighborhood of the light industrial area of N.E. Washington DC. It has approximately 150 feet of frontage on the West Virginia Ave., N.E. which is the southern boundary, while the Metropolitan police fleet vehicle maintenance facility bordered the east. An auto repair and body shop (AYT Auto Services) is located adjacent southeast while the Glorious Health Club, which appears to be a nightclub is located to the southwest. To the northwest, the subject property is bordered by a railway spur that appears to be out of use. Vehicular access is available via a gated curb along West Virginia Ave., N.E. and the remainder of the property is fenced limiting vehicular and pedistrian access. The subject property is improved with a small one-story, rectangular structure which is used as an office for Clean Cars of Washington personnels which perform hand car washes and detailing on-site. The remainder of the property consists primarily of asphalt paved areas. According to the District of Columbia Real Property Services, the property is currently owned by Robert Seigel, Inc and was acquired in April 9, 2009. Sanborn and Historical Aeriel Photographs identified the usage of the subject property as ranging from undeveloped land with gasoline stations to parking lot and used auto parts company.
