Additional Property Attributes

The City of Green River intends to redevelop the former UP train depot site into a community center. The two-story depot building, one-story dining room building, and one-story office building annex occupy 1.2 acres of property located in the central part of Green River, WY. Union Pacific retains ownership of the land. A Phase I and Phase II ESA was conducted on the property. The phase I identified potential asbestso contamination and potential groundwater (soil gas) contamination in the area. The Phase II scope of work only included the building strucutre and did not include the land (groundwater, soil). Asbestos contianing materials and lead-based paint (including some damaged materials) were found on the inside and outside of the buildings. The Phase II recommended that some type of control measures be implemented to avoid potential exposures to these materials.

Former Use: The property has always been owned by Union Pacific Railroad. Ownership of the buildings, but not the property, was transferred to the City of Green River in 2012. The two-story depot building, one-story dining room building, and one-story office building annex occupy 1.2 acres of property located in the central part of Green River, WY. Two of the buildings were completed in 191. The 3rd building was completed in 1917.
