Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The property operated as a glass marble factory since the 1890s. The property was first known as Novelty Glass works and by about 1901 until 2008 it was know as Peltier Glass Company. The site is about one block in size and is situated in a residential neighborhood on the northwest part of Ottawa. Contamination of metals identified in the Phase II has allowed for USEPA to pursue an ongoing investigation and conduct time critical removal action activities. In December 2014, the City moved forward with acquiring the property upon completion of a new Phase I ESA to demonstrate AAI in order to initiate the cleanup and redevelopment of the site. The City has applied for USEPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant funds to assist with the cleanup and redevelopment costs.
