Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: According to historical resources, the subject property was developed for commercial/industrial use from at least 1889; property use prior to 1889 is not known. The property has historically been developed with various buildings, most of which were demolished when Interstate-95 was constructed in approximately 1960. According to historical records, between 1989 and 1957 the subject property was used as: jeweler; an automated machine shop; a tin shop; a plating facility; a paint shop; garage; a dress factory; a boat shop; a fish market; a welding shop; an auto repair shop; a junk yard; a pipe fitting facility; a silverware manufacturer; a printing press; a metal treating facility, and a sheet metal shop. Property records indicate AGI Rubber Company (also known as VJC Realty) purchased the subject property in 1967, however the rubber manufacturing at the subject property reportedly began in approximately 1957. In 1957 the subject property was developed with three buildings, the rubber manufacturing building, a tin shop and fish market. Operation at the tin shop ceased sometime after 1972 and the building was used as part of the rubber manufacturing processes; this building was later incorporated into the current building through a series of additions. The fish market company which occupied the current 888-square foot building had a lease which began prior to 1967 and expired in 1991; use of the building after 1991 is not known. In approximately 2011, rubber manufacturing operations ceased at the subject property and in 2012 a fire consumed portions of the rubber manufacturing building. On May 3, 2012, 141 Stratford Avenue was acquired through foreclosure by the City of Bridgeport and on January 16, 2013.
