Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Based on a review of available historical data, the subject property parcels have been developed and used almost entirely for residential purposes since as early as 1894. Historical data indicates that the east parcel formerly contained two residential dwellings listed addressed as 600 and 604 West 21st Street. The dwelling at 600 West 21st Street was demolished in 1980, while the dwelling at 604 West 21st Street was demolished in 2007. The west parcel was previously addressed as 618 West 21st Street. A dwelling was first present on this parcel by 1912, and was demolished in 2008. Other than recent ownership by St. Mary's Cathedral, the parcels have historically been owned by private individuals. Most of the immediately adjacent and surrounding properties have been used historically for residential purposes, although surrounding properties have had a mixed commercial use history, including the following: religious and institutional uses, auto repair stores, garages, welding and machine shops, furniture and cabinet stores, and various warehousing purposes. Parcels north of the subject property appear to have been converted from residential to institutional/parking lot usage by 2009.
