Additional Property Attributes

Removed two underground storage tanks (gasoline) at a gasoline station. Then, conducted soil sampling for the site. Lab analysis of soil sample indicated lead concentrations below Tribal Hazardous Control Act Soil Cleanup levels of 250 mg/kg, as well as Washington State Model Toxics Control Act Method A soil cleanup levels for unrestricted land use of 250 250/mg/kg, no other contaminants found. Based on the data collected and analystical results presented, contractors recommends site closure upon the follwing actions: Complete off-site disposal of both remaining 12,000 gallon and 2,000 gallon USTs.

Former Use: On June 2005, two underground storage tanks that been used to store gasoline were decommissioned at The Pines within the boundaries of the Colville Indian Reservation. Four USTs (12,000-gallon, 2,000 gallon, and two 1,000 gallon capacity) were originally installed in 1978, two (both 1,000 gallons) on which were removed during the mid-1990's. The remaining UST's were pumped and decommissioned by Able Clean-Up Technologies, Inc., of Spokane, WA. The 2,000 gallon tank was excavated and removed from the pit by the owner of the property. The 12,000 gallon tank was exposed by excavation in order to obtain soil samples, but due to size of the tanks, was not removed on June 21, 2005. Arrangements for final removal of the 12,000 gallon from the excavation and backfill with native soil, as well as the removal of the excavated 2,000 gallon UST from the site, were coordinated between property owner and CCT Response Program Manager. Buildings on site consist of private home with a garage, a defunct cafe, a shed, and a 12,000 gallone capacity AST with secondary containment. The USTs are located approximately 130 feet southeast of the owners home, and directly south of the former cafe.
