Additional Property Attributes

The impacted area is at the cross-roads to multiple river access points and community residences. It had become a neighborhood dump here one resident repeated ignited it on to 'clean-it-up'. Education, outreach was attempted and Public Safety Officer talked with the potentially responsible party to the burning and they were told that if it happened again they would be cited for Court appearance and fines. The difficulty exists that the dumping is from multiple unknown individuals but with the area cleaned-up and improved it is hoped some pride and care will be instilled to prevent any new dumping. The no dumping sign will act as a gentle reminder. There is a stream that runs through the area and no testing of impacts to the surface water was undertaken.

Former Use: The Subject Property, APN 141-040-60, is rural residential and accessed via three minor arteries of Highway 169; an artery of US Highway 101 North, near Klamath Glen, California. The three minor access roads include Blake Road itself, Blake Bar Road (a side artery breaking to the south of Blake Road and crossing the levee), and Starwein Road. The primary use of these roads are to access the Klamath River fish camps and a cluster of small rural homes. The Subject Property has a small streamside area used as an illegal dumping site that included periodic, frequent burning of debris including multiple appliances. the general dump area was cleaned up by Yurok staff, leveled, and reseeded but soil and ash was left in placed. Flyers were distributed to the local community explaining the Tribe's no dumping regulations and steel 'no dumping' sign was installed.
