Additional Property Attributes

Property sits on a bench of land in the esturary, just above the Klamath River high tide line. It was a historic timber saw mill site through the 1800-1900's and hydraulic mining was thought to have occurred on site as well. Records include that abandoned trailers and automobiles were illegally dumped on the property until the Klamath River flood of 1963-4 when waters scoured the property clean. The current lodge, outbuildings (care-takers home, pump house, storage shed), campgrounds, and associated infrastructure were all re-built with FEMA money, post-flood. Phase I found no evidence of contamination.

Former Use: The Subject Property is listed as within the FEMA 100 year flood plain and adjacent to National Wetlands with an elevation of 13 feet above sea level. The Subject Property is currently owned by James C. Bansemer (who inherited the property from his grandparents through his parents) and is being utilized as Gold River Lodge with fishing guide services, 20 RV/camper electric hook-ups available through timeshare purchase, and river access with floating dock. Built in the summer of 2007, main building is a three bedroom, three bath structure with several out buildings that include a small residence for caretaker, storage building and well house.
