Additional Property Attributes

The past use of the property dating back to 1922 as residential as well as parking lot and the fact that the eastern adjacent property was identified on the Leaking Underground Storage Tank database as well as the use of the southern adjacent property as a fuel oil storage facility in the 1980s are good and sufficient reason to classify this Site as REC. The historical use of the western adjacent property as a salvage yard from at least 1964 until the present is another crucial factor. It is stated that the historical information review identified that the eastern, southern and western adjacent properties are properties of concern and the Site is listed onthe State/Tribal Brownfields database

Former Use: The Site is located adjacent to the southeast of the intersection of 1st Street SW and R Street SW and is located in an area characterized by industrial use. It is bordered to the north by R Strret SW followed by a District Department of Transportation road treatment materials storage building; to the east by Half Street SW followed by an aggregate yard; to the south by vacant land; and to the west by 1st Street SW followed by a salvage yard. The current and/or historic use of northern, eastern, and western adjacent properties are RECs. The Site is currently unoccupied and consists of asphalt-paved parking and is owned by the Potomac Electric Power Company.
