Additional Property Attributes

The city is assisting the current owner who only needs a small part of the property for his business to assess the property so that nearby and adjacent businesses can divide the property and acquire portions of the property to expend their businesses.

Former Use: The Property has been developed back to at least 1895. It was occupied by brick/tile manufacturing operations from at least 1895 to the early 1920s. Then the Property was occupied by The American Clay Forming Co. and from the 1920s through the 1950s. The main operations (clay forming, firing and drying) do not suggest chemical usage, however, machining and glazing were also conducted which would have involved the use of chemicals. From the 1960s to the early 1980s, the Property building was used by the north adjacent metal fabricating companies (Tiffin Art Metal, Tiffin Metal and Hadco-Tiffin), primarily for storage. From 1984 to the late 1990s, the Property was used for wood furniture manufacturing by Neowood Products (aka Phoenix Furniture) and operations included woodworking, painting, varnishing and assembly. From 2001 to the present, the Property has been only partially occupied. It has been used by Atlas Industries (south adjacent occupant) for equipment storage (2001 to the present), by a pallet manufacturing operation (2010), by NyeCo Gas for a welding supply operation (2012 to present), and by Tiffin Metal Co. for finished product storage (2012 to present).
