Additional Property Attributes

Property was recently sold by EWEB to the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Eugene. The Agency is currently in negotiations with a private developer, Williams/Dame and Associates, for the sale of about 8 acres. Williams/Dame and Associates plans on constructing a mix of building use types including 70 townhomes, 215 multi-family units, 75-90 units of affordable housing, 125-room hotel, and 14,000 sf of commercial space. In addition, the City will be facilitating the creation of a 4-acre riverfront park (including a 1-acre plaza) and redevelopment of the Steam Plant.

Former Use: Portions of the site were developed prior to 1885. Early development included woolen mills, a flour mill, a furniture manufacturer, and wood products manufacturing. EWEB operations on the site started in 1911 with the construction of a pumping and filtration plant. THe Steam Plant was built in 1931, and operated off and on until 2012. The Operations Building and Warehouse was built in the 1950s, and the equipment repair shop and transformer storage building were built in the 1980s. In 2010 EWEB opened a new operations center in west Eugene. In 2010 the EWEB Riverfront Master Plan was finalized, and the process for redevelopment of the site moved ahead.
