Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Sanborn maps from 1907 to 1963 show a manufactured gas plant supplying light from coal and coke fuel. The property contained reservoirs that contained coal, coal tar, petroleum, and fuel oil throughout the site throughout its years of operation until 1964. The site remained vacant from 1964 until 2001 and it was purchased by the current owner, Mr. Phillip Trefren, in 2002. Since he purchased the site, some equipment has been removed and structural renovations such as a change in flooring and roofing has occurred. Previous use of the subject property, before it was a manufactured gas plant, is unknown. In addition, numerous historical sites were identified on adjoining properties in all directions that could cause environmental impairment. The immediately adjacent and surrounding properties have been used historically for mixed purposes, including commercial and residential. Historic property use adjacent to and surrounding the subject property include several laundromats/dry cleaners, bulk oil storage, filling stations, various automotive service/repair facilities, printing businesses, and AST/UST storage tank areas. The railroad has also existed immediately adjacent to the east side of the subject property.
