Additional Property Attributes

The Kwigillingok Former Moravian Church was building in the 1960s for church activities, and as a place to hold community gatherings. The ownership of the property was transferred from BLM to Kwik Incorporated in 1984, and from Kwik Incorporated to the Native Village of Kwigillingok in 1996. The building was abandoned in 2011 due to concerns about hazardous building materials (i.e. asbestos, lead). Based on the results of the hazardous building material survey completed, the asbestos-containing materials are intact and non-friable, and do not need to be removed/cleaned up as long as they are properly maintained. No lead-based paint was found on the building materials. The building is safe for reuse as this time.
