Additional Property Attributes

Asbestos abatement is the only clean up activity implemented to date. Subsequent clean up work will likely consist of: 1) closure of on-property drywell; 2) sampling and analysis of soils located beneath existing slab foundations and subsequent management as appropriate; 3) continued groundwater monitoring under a groundwater management permit; and 4) installation of an alternate drinking water supply (i.e., extension of a municipal water line). (PPF - Former Lemay Property, 3/28/05) Redevelopment of this former junkyard has resulted in substantial benefit to the Town of Gilford, NH. The municipal water line was extended primarily to serve this property. However, this extension has made possible further extension of the utility to other properties needing municipal water. All remedial work has been completed and the property is currently under redevelopment. A subdivision plan for the property has been approved with six developable lots. One lot has been developed into a full-service bank. Elderly housing, a hotel, a post office, physician offices, and retail establishments are planned for the remaining lots. This project is expected to leverage an estimated $7 million in construction, provide 50 new full and part time jobs, and provide substantial property tax revenues for the town of Gilford. (PPF - Former Lemay Property, 1-31-08)

Former Use: Used from 1951 to 2003 for one or more auto repair facilities. Site impacts from former petroleum product USTs for gasoline, used oil, heating oil, and diesel fuel. Probable discharge of chemicals to septic systems/drywells. (PPF- Former Lemay Property 10/5/2006)
