Additional Property Attributes

The property is a two-story building built of common red brick and white stone columns. The property includes a lean-to garage located on the south side of the property. Of the 51 suspect ACM, 13 materials were confirmed to be asbestos containing building materials and one material (the building roofing) is assumed to be an ACM. Of the 260 painted interior and exterior surfaces surveyed, 46 were determined to be LBP. An estimated total of 179 fluorescent tubes and 11 PCB-containing ballasts were identified as PCB-containing ballast per EPA guidance.

Former Use: The building was constructed in the early 1900s to be multiple purpose, retail, or single occupancy use. In 1916, the Northern Grocery Company remodeled the building into their warehouse for their wholesale grocery business. In 1920, a fire on the second floor of the warehouse building caused considerable damage to the building, which was also damaged by firefighter's water. The large, lean-to garage on the south side of the building was constructed in 1936 for truckloading and delivery services. The garage, basement, and docks were remodeled in 1970. The building was vacant from about 1984 to 1990, and a printing company currently occupies part of the building.
