Additional Property Attributes

The site is located in an area targeted for large scale economic development in Pittsfield's master plan. Former Use: The Site is located in a mixed-use area of the Town of Pittsfield, New Hampshire, and is currently developed with two wood structures (the 'Site buildings'), and three additional structures: a former scale house; a lean-to storage shed; and the remnants of a former boiler house and associated coal bin. The Site buildings and additional structures were constructed circa 1920 and historically operated as a corn canning factory until circa 1964. A coal bin and boiler house were formerly located on Site and residual coal and cinders associated with the past use of that system were observed. No decommissioning records were available. Current active operations at the Site include Tom?s Trailers, a storage trailer rental business operated by the Site owner; and additional tenants including a school bus repair garage, and a manufacturer of miter boxes. Several additional businesses are currently renting or have historically rented space at the Site, but were not actively in operation at the time of Ransom's Site reconnaissance. The Site buildings occupy the southwestern portion of the Site near Clark Street. A large truck yard north and northeast of the Site buildings is occupied by Tom's Trailers, with 119 trailers (mostly tractor-trailer box trailers) staged onsite. The north and northeastern portion of the Site are comprised of wetland areas, and the northwestern-most corner of the Site is used by an abutter for the storage of masonry products.
