Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: It appears that at least until 1952 no buildings were present at the Site; however, a driveway appears present in 1952 and a portion of the Site appears to have been cleared. Historical documentation suggests that the cleared area was used at least in part as an open-burning dump by the Town, as recently as 1960. The Department of Public Works (DPW) indicated that a shed on-Site that was used to house DPW vehicles burned in 1958, and was subsequently replaced with the current metal-d main building on-Site. The main building is apparent in a 1965 historical aerial photograph, which also appears to show the salt shed. The shed building located adjacent to the main building first appears on an aerial photograph taken in 1977; a building permit for a pole shed at the Site is dated 1972. Town records and information provided by the owner and operators indicate that the property was purchased from the Town by Ace Edition, Inc. in 2001. It is unclear at what point the town stopped using the Site, but a DPW representative indicated that the Town garage may not have actively operated at the Site for several years prior to the sale. Broken Wrench Auto Repair began operations at the Site in 2005.
