Additional Property Attributes

The Phase II was commissioned by the City of Gering based on community concerns that the site still contained asbestos containing materials buried underground. After the phase II was conducted the results showed that no contamination was found and that the brick debris was much more localized than previously thought.

Former Use: 5.29 acres of vacant property owned by the Lindeken Family Trust. Warranty deeds dating back to 1909 include several private individuals. Historically, this property was occupied by the Gering Brick Factory from at least 1928 to the 1950s. Subsequently, all factory related buildings and a dwelling were removed, the last structures were removed in the 1980s/1990s. Today, no evidence of structures remain. The property was acquired by Mr. Lindekin in the 1960s and to sometime in the 1970s the property was used to raise miniature horses and chicken and for storage of about 6 antique tractors/cars. The property is vacant since at least 1993 and in 2001 was put into the Lindeken Family Trust.
