Additional Property Attributes

The Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas contracted out a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) for the property located in the west-central section of Tribal Trust Tract #17, 100th Street in Horton, Kansas. The Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas hired Terracon Consultants to conduct the ESA. Based on the ESA, recognized environmental conditions (RECs) or the potential presence of hazardous substances were identified as "historic use of the site as a construction/demolition landfill". After thorough review and verification, the Kickapoo Environmental Office recommends a subsurface investigation be conducted to evaluate for possible releases that may have occurred from possible impacted associated with the historic construction/demolition landfill operations.

Former Use: The site is an approximate four acres of vacant land located in the west central section of Tribal Trust #17, 100th St. in Horton, Brown County, Kansas. Based on review of the historical information, the site has been utilized as a construction and demolition landfill for approximately one year, before becoming a rock/dirt storage area. Based on a review of information obtained from the Brown County assessor's records, the current site owner is the USA in Trust for the Kickapoo Tribe.
