Additional Property Attributes

Second Quarter 2019 CCLRC was retained by the Village of Newburgh Heights to demolish this vacant industrial building formerly used as a heat-treating plant until 2017. A Phase I and II were completed by Partners Environmental prior to CCLRCs involvement in the project. Subsequently, we were asked to use USEPA funds to perform an additional assessment of cyanide salt contamination of the building materials. Assessment efforts were underway this quarter. Third Quarter 2019 - The Hazardous Materials Visual Testing Activities at the facility indicated that detectable concentrations of cyanides were present in all three of the surface samples in each building. Detectable concentrations of cyanides were also present in one of the three interior block samples. The extent of the coverage appears more widespread that previously observed, and cyanide precipitates, likely built up over time, appear to be efflorescing out of the porous surfaces. CCLRC and City are working on strategy and funding resources to demolish the building addressing the environmental issues.
