Additional Property Attributes

The site was operated by Ithaca Industries for textile manufacturing operations that included production of men's and boy's pajamas. The exact dates of operation are unknown, although the time frame was likely after the building was constructed in approximately 1958 and prior purchase of the property by Carolina Tire Sales in 2008. Details regarding the manufacturing history (e.g., fabric treatment or dying) were not available. After Ithaca Industries ceased its operation, the on-site building was converted into a tire warehouse operated by Carolina Tire Sales. According to regulatory records and the historical interviews, a tire fire occurred in 2009 and the building burnt to the ground. The site has remained vacant since that time. Firefighting foam, which may contain per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), was reportedly used to extinguish the blaze.
